Mark your calendars for a unique concert on August 12, 2012

Exactly 2 months from today Chennai will witness an unusual concert, to be launched for the first time in the world. If you are interested in Carnatic Music you would not want to miss it. If you know that it is by Vijaya Siva on a theme called "Geetha Vedantham" you would want to be there, no matter what. Good news: there is a live webcast too.
"Geetha Vedantham" is a concert of compositions based on Vedanthic truths/principles etc. The entire concert is dedicated only to that concept. Vijaya Siva + R K Shriramkumar + Manoj Siva are presenting this. The team is currently working on selecting compositions for a full 3 hour concert to be held on August 12, 2012 at Sivagami Petachi Auditorium. It is hosted by Ramanathan Think Foundation. Big Promise - No speeches, only concert."

I don't know if the artistes will read this, but I would suggest that they include the following:
1. Sri Chaitanya's Shikshashtakam
2. Adi Shankara's Nirvana Shatkam
3. The first four shlokas of Bhagavadgita 15 Chapter.

As someone who enjoys both Carnatic music and such verses, I have found them very musical. They have been rendered musically before but Vijay Siva and RK Sriram Kumar will bring their unique insights.

As a background:
Nirvanashatkam is the epitome of Advaitic thought.
Sri Chaitanya, as the culmination of the Bhakti movement, composed the Shikshashtakam -it is his only instruction to his disciples..it is suffused with the devotional thought of a saint who moved from being the foremost scholar of his time to one who dissolved in devotion.
The first four verses of the 15th chapter condense the essense of Vedanta about creation, its maker and the path to liberation.
Just my thoughts, others would know more and say more too perhaps.
