Re: mening requested-enda mAyakkAriyO
Is this a Sabdam? Sounds more like a jAvaLi.
Some of the connections between the sentiments are not clear, because, this is, in essence a highly sarcastic exchange between an errant nAyaka and the heroine. I have tried to put the sentiments of these connections as I see it in square parentheses...
pallavi
enda mAyakkAriyO en sAmi umakEdEdO bOdhittALO en sAmi
Was it some (enda) hypocrite (mAyakkAriyO) who 'instructed' you/'advised' you (umakku bOdhittALO) on 'this and that' (EdEdO) [about me], my (en) lord (sAmI)?
anupallavi
santata pugazhum shrI madurApuri tannil vAzh sOmasundarEshvararE nIr
inda mozhi kELum enran mIdil Ashai edanAlEyO marandirundIr nIr
Oh Lord sundarESvara (sundarESvararE) of eternal (santata) fame (pugazhum), who lives (vAzh) in (tannil) the town of madurai (madhurApuri), you (nIr) please listen (kELum) to these (inda) words (mozhi): "you, Sir (nIr) had forgotten (marandirundIr) your love (ASai) for me (enran mIdil) for some [incomprehensible] reason (endanAlEyO)".
caraNam
AmAmA nannAccu pinbenna anda sarOjAkSi valaiyinil sikki nIrenai marandavar allO
Oh, is that so (AmAmA)? [OK, OK,] that's good (nannAccu)! [But if you are not at fault], then why (pinbenna) [did this happen]? After all, aren't (allO) you (nIr) the one who forgot (marandavar) all about me (enai) after getting trapped (sikki) in the snares (valaiyil) of that (anda) lotus (sarOjA)-eyed (akshi) lady?

rshankar: I have it listed as a sabdam but I have no reference as to the source of the song. Thanks for the fast response.

This is neither a sabdam nor a jAvaLi. It is the tamizh transcreation of the many avatar-ed huseni swarajati / varnam. An examination of the lyrics will reveal that it closely follows E mAyalADi rA.

Keerthi - thanks! I had no idea of doing a trans-whatever comparison.
