Mysore Nagaraj, Manjunath with Umayalpuram Sivaraman

The Palghat Mani Iyer Centenary Concert just ended at Gayana Samaja. Nagaraj and Manjunath served a rich feast with Viriboni, Marivere (Anandabhairavi), Marivere (Latangi), Eduta Nilachite (Shankarabharana). The brothers mixed fireworks with some superb manodharma music in alapanas and swaras. Vid Sivaraman presented a hallmark tani with a specially composed mohra and korvai dedicated to his guru. Guruprasanna earned appreciation from the maestro for his faithful following.

Vid Sivaraman said something very touching: Sri Chowdiah gave him a big boost 50 years ago by getting him to play with Ariyakudi in Ramaseva Mandali. Sri Sivaraman is encouraging in turn these talented violinist brothers which would surely please the great Sri Chowdiah.
A full house lapped it all up. All credit to Vid. Krishna for getting up a fine festival.

Yes, it was a full house.
They played also Brova Bharama, Himagiri Tanaye, Eppo Varuvaro, Venkatachalanilayam,
and English Note (3-4 speeds!)

It was far from full house. There were plenty of empty seats. Little disappointed with the concert because it started about 40 mins late, and then there were speeches by the organizer and UKS himself, which took almost 45 mins. But for these, an RTP could have been easily accommodated. But whatever was presented was excellent.
