This is a very popular ShlOkA and I can understand the single words but can't understand the running meaning and wondered whether posters could help. Google didn't help much.
lakshMi pradhAna samayE navavidrumApAm
vidyA pradhAna samayE Sharadindu niramalAm
vidvEShi varga vijayE tamAla nIlAm
dEvIM trilOka jananIm SharaNam prapadyE ||

A very loose translation:
I take refuge in dEvi, who is the mother of three worlds, (who is) bright as a newly springing plant(tree?) in giving weath, clear as autumn moonlight in giving knowledge, and dark as cimmamon while slaying opponents.
