vsarmaiitm,
Good to hear about the festival. Thanks to Radha and Bhaskar's energetic efforts.
The program offers a good mix of senior and younger players.
I don't see the names of forumites J&J and Jayalakshmi Shekhar this season.

You have forgotten that last year J&J wrote on this very forum that they will not be participating anymore in any veena festivals as vainikas are given slots of 30-45 minutes only and then this is used to justify not giving them a full-length concert during the season.
You may want to search for the topic "Are we singing the dirge for the veena?" in rasikas.org.
PS. Your age is creeping up on you.

Thanks for reminding me, and as for your PS, you could have added a good 'old' adjective to it too
Thirty minutes is rather short. I have once been to one of Carnatica's 45 minute slots festival in Bengaluru--all vocal, and I had no problems with it because two side by side stages helped in continuing the music without any delays at all.
With instruments, it's different, I understand. Perhaps hour long concerts are ideal.

Vainikas need a Jack Kramer . What if their world has already moved onto to the Kerry Packers and Lalit Modis .You have forgotten that last year J&J wrote on this very forum that they will not be participating anymore in any veena festivals as vainikas are given slots of 30-45 minutes only and then this is used to justify not giving them a full-length concert during the season.
Solution is to have THE OTHER FESTIVAL from 1st Jan and feature all deserving artists who have missed out in the regular festival .
