An outstanding concert by the brothers. except for a mediocre accompaniment on violin, all the artists did justice to their scholarship.

A delayed start by 30 mins ( may be the audience was less at 6.30 could have been the reason ??) was an indicator of a missed opportunity for RTP. A quick start to the concert (top class audio system) ensured that we did not waste much time in the setup process.

each song followed as smooth as a cheese spread. Sri Ravikumar also spoke about the discovery of the Atana tyagaraja kriti and tuning by his Guru.

Organisers asked Malladi Brothers to continue to present such researched krithis in their next performance in the same venue..

Looking forward to it.

Thanks for the review. I am glad there are other people who also think not much about the violinist. I have heard him several times on radio and on many occasions I turn it off! Unbearable.

Actual start as indicated in the paper/notice was 6PM. It was very uneasy to wait when U know the artist were present in the venue and that for the crowd. Those who are sincere to the time get a raw deal. I came to know with a bit of chatting around that it is usual in this venue to start late.

I had to leave after the Abhogi(8PM). I think the response from the violinst for the this raga alapana was OK. In fact the alapana of the vocalist (Sriram prasad I suppose) at the start had the nishada peeping of Sri ranjini but within a couple of phrases was corrected using the sruti box. The lyric presentation came out very well like Malladi Bro do for that matter to all the composition with good energy and emphasis on the maathu settings.

It has to be mentioned that to the time I was there BCM played the support quite well. He plays the inserting rapid-korvys like guru TKM very nicely with a good understanding of the composition. But on that day he seemed restraining himself.

I had a raw deal when i attended a concert last year .. i was first to be there .. and almost waited 1 hr before the next audience came in. .. and Iused that learning.. to come late this time..

Agree that BCM delivered excellent support to the artists. Tani was outstanding , Crisp and contained everything that a tani should contain.
