By the way, what raga/ragas is the viruttam in? And how is it related to the main kriti? Find it a bit disorienting!

Some thing curious with Youtube. To the side where youtube displays the related videos, I see 5 or 6 Sikkil Gurucharan links. How did youtube know that this is Sikkil?

I eliminated the usual suspects. I do not see any Sikkil reference in the video meta data including the description or comments. May be the up loader provided that info which youtube is not displaying to us. I also verified that even if I copy and paste the url onto another computer, the same related videos os Sikkil are displayed, so that list is not generated based on my own prior surfing history. A crazy thought ( and out of left field definitely ) is Google crawled this very rasikas page where the linkage between the youtube url and Sikkil is made and "learned" this association (co-mention !! Though that will be awesome, I somehow think there has to be a simpler and straightforward explanation. Anyone?

Aah... the great mystery! Google's algorithms must be even smarter than previously credited with.

But I suspect that it is simply listing other videos by same owner/uploader.

But geez... please listen to it an tell me what is musically quirky about it. Can't quite put my finger on it but I think there is more than meets cmlover's ears!

I checked that. All the other related videos are uploaded by other people. But there is one by Anil Srinivasan and Sikkil in that uploader's list of videos but that is not listed as a related video. Interesting. Anyway.........

About your question, I do not have a great mental concept of Brindavana Saranga but Sikkil's viruththam sounded very much like Brindavana Saranga to me. It also had some shades of kApi to my ears but to only quickly transition away from it, I figured that is how Brindavana Sanranga is. I do not really know.

Gents,
You Tube, owned by Google, uses extensive techniques to track, tag and index stuff.
If you search on YT for 'Sikkil brindavana' you get this as #1. If you search 'ranga piura vihara', it is #25.
They KNOW it is Sikkil Gurucharan. From track matching or flagging etc. perhaps.

People's activities at Rasikas.Org will be very much referenced in you tube and google algorithms in CM. Maybe it wasn't even needed here.

Not sure if Google is that smart. The Visalakshi Nityanand link (from Vkailasam) posted by Vasantakokilam was Part 1 -- no part II showed up in related videos on the side!

A fresh youtube search brought it up. Sri Venkatakailasam could have combined Part I and II now that youtube allows longer videos or at least could have used a succinct title for Google to detect matches. As it is now, there are too many words in Vkailasam's way of writing titles for Google to sort and pick up matches.

Mystery resolved. There is a straightforward explanation, no paranormal activity or superior google intelligence. What is going on is sort of what I suspected when I wrote "May be the up loader provided that info which youtube is not displaying to us."

If you look at the page source, you will see

" <meta name="keywords" content="brindavana saranga, rangapura vihara, sikkil gurucharan">"

(to see page source, on windows, use ctrl-u or right click->view page source while on that youtube page and scroll down and look for the keywords tag.)

I found out that that, starting August 2012, youtube stopped displaying the keywords on its pages even though the info is in the page source. Anyway, now we know. Thanks for the indulgence.

Good detective work! You are always scientific!
For me I was not influenced by Suresh. I evaluated the style independantly and matched with Gurucharan which I know quite well.
Regarding Brindavan saranga for the viruttam, it is staring you in the face!
