Thanks! Looks like a huge folder...
I am hearing the one on radioweb.in it's a fine rendering in a higher pitch and high energy level.

I am listening to a Charsur Paddhati CD set of KVN, the one and only KVN, accompanied by Lalgudi and Palghat Mani Iyer at Navaratri Mantapam in 1975.

I find the combination of KVN and PMI simply simply ELECTRIC. I cannot share the tracks or samples here for obvious reasons, but you can sample them in the Charsur website.
BIG REQUEST: does anyone have some more great recordings of KVN and PMI PLEASE?

Thank you espras! What a mood created by two deeply involved musicians. In such moments, nothing else exists.

Sri Ranjini is one of my favorites...

The composition of Thyagaraja Marubalka in Sri Ranjini where he tells "I thought your abode Saketa is far away
Now I realize that you are in my heart only
I am happy, Oh Lord of Tyagaraja."

rendered by SSI...

My guess based on the voice, the vocalist is Puducode Krishnamurthy and not Alathur Srinivasa Iyer.

Puducode Krishnamurthy was another one of those great musicians; who did not get much recognition.

The mridangam is also totally brilliant. It should be UKS. He makes the long rendering very interesting. He seems to know the song.

I have been listening to a lot of Ramnad Krishnan lately.

This particularly piece, I have heard over ~ 100 times in the last week. A superb Sriranjani (bhUvini dAsuDanE pErAsacE ) with LGJ and Karaikudi Mani. LGJ's return alapanai is delightful. And finally, just wait for KRM's mridangam to chime in and hear him take off at the start of the caranam.

Nothing I say can prime this experience. See for yourself: http://soundcloud.com/ramesh-balasubram ... sriranjani

There are several krithis that have almost Ramnad Krishnan's stamp.
Bhuvanidasudane is one; Lavanya Rama, ... Govardhana Giri (Darbari Kanada) is sung by all artists now.
I love Ramnad Krishnan's husky voice.

Here is a ragamalika slokam from Mooka Panchasathi - rendered by Ramnad Krishnan.

Annamalai, Venkatakailasam: Thanks.

Gmohan: Yes, both the 1968 and 69 MMA concerts with MSG/Trichy Sankaran are superb. As you say, one of them features a wonderful bhUvini dAsuDanE.
Although we lost Ramnad Krishnan very early (he was barely 55 when he died), many of his recordings have survived.

Here is one with Viswa, VT, TR from 1967 (the usual suspect). yagnAdulu sukha manuvAriki in jayamanOhari.
http://soundcloud.com/ramesh-balasubram ... yamanohari

And no one seems to sing jayamanOhari any more.

E SWARA -001-Shri Ramnad Krishnan-Bhavayami Raguramam..

The song was provided by Shri. Khaanthan Balakrishna Sastri which was tagged to Chitraveena Shri Ravi Kiran in the Face Book.
Khaanthan Balakrishna Sastri has to his credit a film on the Carnatic Music Legend Ramnad Shri Krishnan titled MUSICIANS' MUSICIAN.
Recently Ramnad Krishnan's son Ramanathan has located a very rare rendering of BHAVAYAMI by the legend. Yet another treat to music lovers.
This is for you to enjoy!!

Looks like your yearning was heard. Only once have I heard someone attempt an alapana of this raga. Not sure it has
a distinct identity but would love to be proved wrong.

Suresh, I am clearly not an expert, but I think it would difficult to not lean on abhogi or sriranjani when singing Jayamanohari. So, I agree. Perhaps a performing musician can shed some light on this.

Ramnad Krishnan regularly sang Nee bhakti bhagyasudha as well as Yagnadulu, often times with lots of swarams. But I can't recall a detailed alapanai even from him.

I remember GNB has given a good Jayamanohari alapana while singing Yagnadulu.
Unfortunately I am unable to upload from my cassette. Check Sangeethapriya .org
