Based on Radio Frequency and aerial fingering.

Lesson One

Lesson Two

Recently, in N'Delhi, Israel's Tal Kravitz sang and played on this instrument many old Hindi film songs.

That Lesson One (link above) has spooked me - the high octave voice-like sound that the instrument emits is very ghost-like, with a nether-worldly feel.

Probably why they've been popular in horror films!

Whoooooo aaaaaaaiiiiiiii Whoooooooooeeeeeeee!

I have sometimes wondered why some techie-keen carnatic music doesn't take up the theremin?

Story:

A cute Italian girl named Gopini meets a Malaysian-reborn Krishna playing the Theremin. Instant chemistry!

What are you playing-a Nanda Lala!?
Nothing la, only Theremin la!
Oo la la! Oo la la! Oo la la!

Yes, it might take a few wedding feasts to soothe the injury!

If the computations made are analog or even near-analog, I think it should be a reasonable instrument for CM. If the scale continues and the device remains sensitive to the right hand's position as far away, it looks like about three octaves can be done on the length of one veena, which should be OK for conventional CM octave-wise and space-wise.

Jayachamaraja Wodeyar had bought a theremin, and asked Veene Doreswami Ayyangar to try and play on it.

Here's a snap of Carnatic vocalist Charulatha Mani playing the Theremin on exhibit at Scitech, Perth.

She was incidentally playing the theme from Midsomer Murders, which is probably the one piece of music that most of us have heard performed on the Theremin.

Thanks for sharing the photo - would love to hear CM played on the Theremin, if there's any audio/video.

I don't care much for its sounds as has been used in the Western sense - it sure is very creepy.
