Jayanti Kumaresh for Saraswathi Vaggeyakara Trust

Post by sureshvv »

a brisk start in to shake off any residual sunday morning lethargy with ganapathe mahamathe in kalyani featuring a deluge of swaras which felt like a head bath.

someone commenting that the sun is shining extra brightly after that suryamurthe. Chennai has been somewhat in the throes of cyclone neelam for most of last week.

ramesh on mrudangam getting in on the action playing with one hand & demonstrating talam with the other - also demostrating his prowess

Mellow sriranjani alapana with nicely spaced out gentle upward flicks of the little finger to keep us from slipping into slumber

Brief power outage causinga bit of confusion & may be ending the alapana a bit prematurely

Sri dumdurge in khanda chapu is the kriti chosen. Mellow giving way to rowdhram provoked by the power cut.

rasikas site seems to have gone down too for a bit.

sankaram abhirami manoharam in kamala manohari

A slow & powerful poorvikalyani rolling in gently.

Tanam followed my meenakshi memudham

A torrent of swaras with good enthusiastic support and animated oohs and aahs from the audience - it is as if the dimunitive artiste has the entire hall dancing to her tune

A rousing thani bordering on loud. Until now the sound setting was the best i have heard at this hall.

Annapurne visalakshi after a brief overview of sama

Concert concludes with kamalambike' in shree

And I was at the Oli concert, where it was raining music ...but not audience. Still, even though we were so few, Suguna Purushothaman & Co gave an extraordinarily beautiful program
