I strayed into Ragasudha Hall ahter having been confined indoors due to NILAM on previous couple of days and it was a satisfying experience to listen to Sivapriya who is under the tutelage of Smt. R. Vedavalli.
She sang an acceptable version of Janani, precded by a short sketch of the raga , especially at the point Manasija Manasa , a very creditable Munduvenuka (song only), Paripoorna Kama, and a very robust Bhairavi with all its stately gait- Balagopala- with good neraval at Neela Neeraja Sareera and swaras ( a bit long) but it was all done with great aplomb and confidence. I I was surprised that she could sing with authority in her husky voice . The concert was not allowed to sag.It was nice to see some musicians attending the concert.
It is really surprising that such a good artist with stong fundamentals is not in the regular concert circuit
Ganapathiraman's strong Support was evident throughout the concert and his Thani itself was music to ears
