Re: jago durga
This jAgo dUrga jAgO is a well-known invocation seven days prior to the main festival days of ashtami-navami-dasami.
Yes, it is part of Mahalaya - the most famous and and hair-raising version of Chandi-path delivered at 4 AM -is by Birendra Krishna Bhadra. All of West Bengal wakes early on this day to listen to this rendition, which is now considered a classic.
Aruna Sairam does a pretty good job although some Carnatic touches enter at places. What gladdens me is her pan-Indian approach in spreading and bringing the beauty and spirituality of Abhangs from Maharashtra and the unique flavor of Mahalaya from West Bengal - to an intensely Tamil closed door audience.
Composed by Pankaj Mallick and sung by Dwijen Mukherjee - listen to the original Jago Durga version...

If you want to experience in full, the West Bengal flavor of the Devi, see below.
From the blow of the conch to the early morning heralding of Chandi-Devi on Mahalyaya, the incomparable FULL flavor of the classic Birendra Kumar Bhadra - here is an hour plus recording. Truly, an experience!
