Your doubt is correct. The word should be " shuki " meaning parrot.

The other mistake therein is, it should be " chanchalamu " instead of sanchalamu.

What about "charu" in the charanam? Does it not mean "moon" here?

karuna rasa yuta = full of kindness. Charu=beautiful. katakshi=look/glance.
(I ending means one who is casting, feminine )

karuNaarasayutachaarukataakshi is one single compound word which can be interpreted in two ways : (1) Contextually : One who looks with kindness through the corner of beautifully shaped eyes (2) Literally : One who has compassion-filled beautifully shaped eyes.

kataakshi = kata + aksha + i ( roughly ) = kata is contextually the waist portion of the eye i.e. the corner. Such eyes are normally poetically ascribed to deer and peacocks only.

This song has been sung by, MLV, Bombay Jayashree, Sudha Raghunathan, and many others during the last so many decades.

Kanchuka actually means body armour. But for ladies, it is blouse. Not 'dress' as stated in post #6. So the compound word, " ratnakanchukaabharaNabhuuShaNi " can be split in three ways as : (1) one who wears gems, blouse and ornaments ( all separately ) (2) one who wears gem-studded blouse and other ornaments (3) one who wears a gem-studded armour ( for the chest during warfare ). The second one is more apt for consideration of beauty and glory.
