Re: Need translation from Tamil to Telugu of poorvikalyan Ja
Thanks for the transliteration, Lakshman sir. This makes things easier since there is no way to find the aspirated consonants from the tamil script.
It seems the song has two more charanams. The one you have listed is shown as the third one in the text I am referring to.
Excuse my ignorance of telugu, is there a word "duSkIlu" in telugu? Since the text shows "duSkIlu" instead of "duSTula"

raghu26 Ji,
I had intended to write the meaning in prose form and post it.
Anyway I am posting it now. May be it will be more easy to follow.
O honorable lady, does it befit your stature any longer [P]
to sport with an odd man[A]
acting like a good man,he enamours,he intends to cheat you, he will plunge you in despair and rejoice.
knowing that, he has committed the five abominable sins and cheats, you always fancy him, remember him and
get fulfilled.[c1]
eversince he tied the tAli[tirumangalyam] he is abusive, fights viciously,he is annoying, he has ceased loving
he wants the sacrifice {of your head},he laughs in a frenzy and leaves.[c2]
O lady with the dark tresses, the time you spent in unfavourable circumstances, could have been spent in
excellence, cherishing and blooming in the company of tAlavanESha,rather than praising the felon who moves around with loafers [c3]

More mistakes have been introduced during the various efforts. Hence some more corrections to post #8 & #10 are inevitable ( in light of the Tamizh text in link of OP #1 ) :

The lady is flirting ( not sporting ) with the paramour and teasing the wife . dushTula in C3 is not required. duskiilu is correct.

Savitri-avare,parihAsamADuTa sarilEni vAnitO
To jest with an unequal
to sport with an odd man[A]
Shouldn't 'sarilEni vAni' be translated to 'the one without an equal' / 'the peerless one' rather than unequal / odd one.
In kannaDa of course, avanu sari(yA)gilla means 'He isn't quite normal/proper'. However when tyAgarAja says 'sarilEni sItatO sarayuna madhyambuna' in the manOhari song, I think he means the matchless / incomparable sIta. There are similar phrases in some of the varnams by the Tanjore quartette, though I can't recollect an example offhand.
Similarly, while koTTU / goTTu does have the connotation of 'behead', the main senses of the term are 'strike, hit, attack'. So wouldn't it be contextually appropriate to translate talagoTTimmanucu to 'he caused me to hit my forehead(out of exasperation/ remorse)' ?
I'm not sure if there an english idiom for talE chacchikoLLuvudu / talai aDicchukirthu.

keerti Ji,
namaskaragaLu
you are correct. It should have been 'one without an equal'.
Similarly, 'he caused me to hit my forehead' for talagoTTimmanucu'
would have been more appropriate.
Thank you for the guidance.

keerthi
There sure is a commonly understood phrase, slapping the forehead...in exasperation, pictured as the inner palm contacting the forehead with some force.

Re: Need translation from Tamil to Telugu of poorvikalyan Ja
Whether the fingers touch the forehead or the palm does that, are the bedhas of this gesture. These kriyas are of two types - Shabda Kriya or Nishabda Kriya.
The finger and nishabda combination depicting a lighter emotion and the palm and shabda combination the more serious variety. The number of taps defines the jaathi bhedas thus providing for a rich and complex tapprasthara. The tempo of the taps carry meaning and possibly the gathi bhedas too but that varies from country to country, deshi or vedeshi. There are typically three ( may be more ) emotional dimensions to this gesture: a) In a serious way in exasperation. This is an expression of pain b) In an endearing and light-hearted way. Say, when you can not take the mischief/'vishamam' of a child, or when the entreaties/advances of a romantic partner (wow!) is a bit much c) in a non-serious way where you chide yourself for not getting something obvious. This is usually a single light tap to the forehead as opposed to many taps in the previous two.
The last dimension is captured by 'Duh' in English slang

You forgot to mention the back of the hand fist single slap on the forehead and repeated slaps on the forehead against a wall or pillar...no hands needed.

This is the corrected version of the javali, corrections in post#13
and suggestions of keerti Ji, have been followed.
O honorable lady, does it befit your stature any longer [P]

acting like a good man,he enamours,he intends to cheat you[in various methods]
he will plunge you in despair and rejoice.
knowing that, he has committed the five abominable sins and crafty,
you always fancy him, remember him and waver.[c1]
[Boldly] abusing the husband who tied the tali, fighting viciously, annoying,
cease loving, exasperate, causing him to hit his head in anger, laughing in a
frenzy and getting away[c2]
O lady with dark tresses, enough of this contradiction, always trying to bend[him]
gracefully, quickly, abstain [from this], bloom in the company of taaLavanESha.
Praising the slippery felon, who moves around with loafers[c3]

Re: Need translation from Tamil to Telugu of poorvikalyan Ja
" sarilEni vanitO " does not refer to only unequal man or one without equal . In this context, it means an unsuitable man , who is not compatible with the woman being addressed.
" talagoTTimmanuchu " = talagoTTi + immanuchu " which in this context means asking the man to shed his honour and bow down to the wishes of the flirting woman at any cost ( taking his honour / head for ransom ) , which is equal to beheading him. After harassing him so much, she will ignore him by looking / going in another direction ( aTupOvuTa ) causing more anguish.
Hence corrections as per post #24 are not necessitated.
