Shyama Shastri Day Celebratration on 18th Nov at IIT Madras

Telugu Samskrithika Samithi of IIT Madras alongwith IIT Madras campus community
is organsing Shyama Shastri Day Celebrations at CLT, Sunday 18th November (9 am to 9 pm) on the occassion of the 250th birth anniversary of the composer.

Programme:

18th November (Sunday) at Central Lecture Theatre (CLT), IIT Madras

9.00 am to 10.30 am – Lighting the lamp and slokas by children, gitams and
varnam followed by group singing of swarajatis.

10.30 am to 12.30 pm – individual and groups singing of kritis by the
composers by campus children and residents, and IIT students.

12.30pm to 1.15 pm – Lunch

1.15 to 6.30 pm - short concerts of 20 to 30 minutes each by campus artists.
Those performing are – T.T. Narendran (veena), Arundhati
Krishnan, Vighnesh Ishwar, Lakshmi Sreeram, Bharati Kamakoti, Srividya
Sridharkumar, Sudarsan Padmanabhan, Sujana Vadlamani (veena), Kalpana Jayanti.

6.45 pm to 8.45 pm – A thematic concert by Sri Embar Kasturi and party - A
musical journey into the life and music of Sri Syama Sastri

Please participate in this homage to the great composer and stay with us for
the whole day.

We will certainly try to do every year and continue the good beginning we made last year.
There is a lot of talent among student and faculty and their spouses on campus.
The lec-dem by Sri Embar Kasturi was also excellent.
Overall a very memorable day.
