Kalpana Swarams in Naatai and Bilahari in the Pallavi Lines
Beautiful rendition of bilahari ragam, employing a string of sangatis gliding around (upper) R , N2 , D2 , P, and a beautiful return by the violinist
Neetimathi Raga Alapana – bringing out the essence of the ragam through sangatis hovering around D3 - N3 – S – R2 – G2 , establishing the vivadi , while also beautifully linking it with the effect of the Gandharam G2. Before singing the Keerthanai , Dr. VS mentioned her Guru Sri.S.Rajam’s words : that the sangatis in the anupallavi line – “Maakana Mayil Vaahana” were woven so beautifully one after the other ,that when sung, it would (should) actually bring to ones eyes, a dancing peacock.
Kalpana Swarams in riveting speed in Vasantha – Vade Venkatadri – and the percussionists enhancing it with beautiful playing. There were very interesting swara patterns by Dr. VS , and Sri.H.N.Bhaskar. The whole rendition in that Kaalapramaanam was so seamless and smooth, that it looked effortless!
Main Raga of the day – Bhairavi – Niraval and Swarams in the anupallavi line – Neela Neerada Shareera, followed by an engaging taniavarthanam by Madarimangalam Sri Swaminathan and Trichy Sri Murali.
It was a moving rendition of the virutham on Murugan in Sindubhairavi followed by the song Brindavana Sarangan (on Tiruchendur Murugan) .
Following the meera bhajan in misra pilu , the artiste concluded the concert with a beautiful rendition of the Deepa Sloka – Deepam Jyothi Parabrahma.. in Raga Revathi , in the Madyama Sruthi . The combination of ragam and the words was very impactful and lasting.
