T.N.Sesagopalan- Vocal
Chertalai Sihvkumar- Violin
Rohan Krishnamurthy- Mridangam
On a visit from Singapore to Thiruvanmayur, my aunt took me to the Marundeeswaran Temple for a prayer and we were asked to stay back or a concert. We asked whose concert it was they said "TN Sesagopalan". We were thrilled and stayed back. Slated to start at 6.30, the concert started at 7.30, thanks to a sloppy work by the organizers. The crowd was also motley and when asked why it was not publicized, they gave some lame excuses. In any case TNS did full justice despite the terrible organizational aspects. Several Tamil kritis were featured that I had never heard before and of course, Shiva Shiva enna, aptly in praise of the deity at the temple.
The violinist and the mridangist did a splendid job and it was told that the mridangist is US based. None of it was apparent from the demeanor and quality of the percussion presentation which in combination withe the smart violinist made it for a memorable evening.
Kudos to the team for according the music the respect that is due, rain or shine, crowd or no crowd. If any more knowledgeable person was in the audience, please fill in.

Usually TNS concerts start later than announced time. Nothing unusual. I will be surprised if it starts on time.sivakamiN wrote:Slated to start at 6.30, the concert started at 7.30, thanks to a sloppy work by the organizers.
