SGC, from start to finish, always gives his best and this time too. It was 4.15 slot and he had to wrap it up before Smt Vishaka hari’s programme. His rAgA selection sans RTP was too good. 5 minutes kanadA Alapana was truly magical. His dedication to bring real bhAva in each and every kriti is impeccable.
kOsalam was the only rAga that did not fit into my RTP imagination. He should have selected a better rAga for RTP. It was 6PM, he took this RTP and finished by 6.30 PM.
Sanjeev throughout the concert closely followed SGC and his return was as usual brilliant.
Somehow, I don’t vote for TB as he always blasts mridangam not plays mridangam. His tani with Sethuraman was a sort of hitting and blasting. Sethuraman was a poor guy, did not know what to do ? TB played as if it was the last day of the world (?). In between tani, he changed the mridangam too.
I attended BGS and MFAC (I arrived at the venu after the main for these two programmes, so I could not write the review). His BGS PurvikalyAni RTP (kanda jAti triputa) tuned by mannArgudi Eswaran was superb. Next is bahudAri RTP in MFAC, third is koslam.
SGC has developed a niche for himself and at par with mallAdi, Vijay sivA. Go and enjoy an agmark carnatic music. Happily live hereafter.
Sadly, when he sang in the BharathiyAr song “sAgat tunindhavanukku kadal peridhillai, mayayE” (tamil word may be wrong, but the meaning is same) (Ocean is not a problem, if one wants to die), I could not stop remembering mahAdevan, my good friend and husband of Smt Nithyashree.
