Sri R K Srikantan (with M Chandrasekharan, Srimushnam Raja rao & Cbe Mohanram and of course vocal support by Ramakaant) was rendering 'jaya jaya padmanabha murarey' (Swati tirunal - sarasangi) when I entered the Sabha. It was a much awaited kriti as I had listened to RKS singing it at Trivandrum navaratri Mandapam years ago. ( I often wonder why this beautiful mela raga is not getting its due!).
The main was Kaddanuvariki in Todi with niraval & swaras at anupallavi sahitya. MC was quite at ease with the time tested Uruppadi. Raja rao rendered a highly spirited tani with Mohanram.
The previous day, RKS rendered a short and sweet but grand Bhairavi (Enaatinomu) for Carnatica at the Harekrishna centre in Valmiki nagar.

I was there too. A true Srikantan concert. How he sings with ease and how clear and strong his voice still is at ninety three (?)!
