A very traditional and enjoyable concert to finish my season.
Brisk nattai with swaram in jaya jaya, followed by a minute of ranjani - all the key pidi's...aptly returned by the violinst. Despite the chaotic traffic noise in that area, dhurmargacha was serene and posied! neraval and swaram was adeptly followed by JV, and BUG caught up during the process.

Then came YK - it was scholarly.the ragam reminded me of ARI and TNK's YK - sounded as if PRP had been listening to them all his life. Was expecting Hecharigga, but took hey kamakshi, and was wondering whether he was trying to please JV with his dad's master piece - kidding. With so much noise around, he could have avoided a lot of manthra pidi's. wanted to exhibit how deep his voice is? well it is, sir!

A pepppy kavaava embellished by the accompanists followed by bekada RTP. Reminded me of brothers, ramnad krishnan and Papa Iyer's style of loop sangathis, though in his own rendering style. He could have sung more thanams, given that it was so enjoyable and rythmic. thani after neravals followed by swarams, and ragamalika in shanmugapriya, saamaa, and behag.

If someone happpened to record this concert, particularly YK, can you kindly upload the same in youtube? I can spend my long hop-over (re)listening to a pazhaya kaalathu sangeedham. Was glad to witness a packed audience for a sampradhaya style of music. At the same time, feel bad that such a good artist does not perform much. Began my season with a superb Sanjay concert and wrapped it up with a traditional one of Palghat (Dr??) Ramprasad.

@commonman - Thank you for the review sir. I missed it, due to my own misplaced interest. (Chose to go to the stadium to watch India Vs Pak. Dhoni saved my day). I will see if I can get hold of the recording.

On another note, given Ramprasad's penchant of making pallavis in raga's using the sahityam of kritis famous in that ragam (Venkataramana in latangi in his previous concert, siriyen seidha pizhai in mukhari the one before), I am surprised he sang this one in begada instead of Kanada. Just kidding.

And yes - He is Dr. Ramaprasad. He has a PhD in Economics.
