Wishing you all a Happy Deepavali.

It is customary every year to announce Rasikapriya Awards on this auspicious Deepavali day on behalf of members of sangeethapriya discussion groups.

Here we are for Rasikapriya 2012 award announcement.

We have 2 categories of Rasikapriya Award:

1) Category 1: Contribution to rasika community through sangeethapriya:

As we all know, we have tributes pages for Trinities - Tyagaraja, Dikshitar and Syamasastri in our website accessible from http://sangeethapriya.org . These pages have been elegantly designed with copious links to audio renderings for each kriti. Also the kritis of trinities have been categorised based on various groups (such as Pancha Bhootha Kshetra krithis , Utsava Sampradaya Kritis etc) for easy reference along with audio links.

This was possible due to sincere efforts from 2 individuals - Sunil Mudambi and Sai Prasad Viswanathan. Sunil and Sai are continuously updating these pages with more audio references which is a boon to performers and students
alike.

Both Sunil and Sai jointly will receive the award under this category. Sai lives in Bangalore and works for flipkart. Sunil is on an assignment to Singapore and works for TCS.

2) Category 2: Contribution to rasika community through other forums.

For many years, karnatik.com has been a reference library for carnatic music enthusiasts. It is one place for "All you need to know about Carnatic Music". Replete with a variety of information and goodies on Carnatic music
such as lyrics, references, ringtones, puzzles, quizzes , lyrics app, beginner's lessons etc, karnatik.com has been doing a great service to the rasika community

The person behind karnatik.com is Prerana (Rani) Jayakumar. She is based out of California.

Congrats to the winners. The award function will be during Feb/Mar 2013. The date will be announced in due course. The award function will be executed by Gaanapriya Foundation
