Very good concert. There were only two alapanas.
Beautiful slow paced neraval in shankarabharanam.
Raja Rao drowned the voice in fast paced swarms, and neravals.
His Mridangam was as usual on a high decibel level.
If the volume is little lower, it would be so great to listen to him.

Can't agree with you more!
If the volume were a little lower, I'm another among others who thinks it's great to listen to him

@ Arasi, @ Ranjanimalavi.
Totally agree with you on the high decibel was felt at hall.
I felt one more thing. He was a bit more agressive in commanding the proceedings on the dias. Being a new comer to the arena, RK was repetedly looking for a visual consent from him before the next track.
Post viruttum when RK indicated Charulata to proceed , SVRR hinted "NO" through a mridangam beat... and rest what happened is history. Everybody fell into his line.

Couldn't make it to the concert.
I have seen RKM show great respect for his accompanists. And he is nowadays performing with some of the best.
I feel this is a tough phase when he could be overshadowed by them in volume and dictating the proceedings.

It was my first time listening to RKM live. Was pleased with the experience. He's got real talent. I will be watching out for his performances hereon.
About the high decibel levels, the acoustics at the hall didn't help either. With that kind of acoustics, I feel that a mridangam can do without a mic itself! But besides that, I loved Srimushnam sir's playing. I seem to have missed on the small drama on stage that badari mentions though. Must have happened in a heartbeat.
