Boring concert. no variety. no energy.
It was a total disappointment for the Pune rasikas as there was some expectation as he is a disciple of inimitable TMK.

Interesting!
I haven't heard of any of his concerts in Bangalore. Ravikiran however is doing very well.

kssr,
True, G.Ravikiran is TMK's student too. Yet, not all students of a given guru are of the same level in their learning, talent or concert experience.

I have only seen Rithvik Raja once, and that occasion was certainly not boring or lacking in energy. It was a pallavi concert, and I noticed that his approach was very mental; the sort of approach that might be well suited to Pallavi singing. However, there was plenty of non-intellectual beauty in his alapanas.
isaipriyan0 is right to speak as he finds. I'd suggest giving RR another chance, though.

The last time I heard Rithvik Raja he was having some serious sruti/swarastAnam issues. I gave him the benefit of doubt thinking that it was perhaps an off day.
I think RR would do well to practice and work harder on his art before committing to too many stage performances. I say this in the most constructive spirit. I would love to see him succeed, but success is not earned overnight.

I've never listened to Rithvik Raja before. This thread got me curious, so I looked for him on youtube. This recording of his singing the varnam in Abhogi was the first track I came across: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgNDhnCwKBs
I find it very well sung. So maybe it's that he has his off-days often. But he seems in fine form in this recording.

Squims,
Your "may be he has his off-days often" sounds as if you are talking about one of us seniors
A young thing, a good communicator and good looking. A few years ago I heard him and thought he had a long way to go.

"he had a long way to go"
I am reminded of one of the the sabha secretaries during his "vote of thanks" complimenting the artist by saying "he had a long way to go"
What he actually meant (I guess) was that "he will reach great heights"!

Not quite... what he should have said is "...will go a long way."What he actually meant (I guess) was that "he will reach great heights"!
Amazing. almost the same words with such different meaning. Well, yes, that is part of the nature of English.
RR may have a long way to go, but I think he will go a long way, maybe even reaching great heights. And, if he does reach great heights, I doubt that his journey will have been uphill all the way
