Obituary-Vidushi Sugandha Raman

Post by Radhika-Rajnarayan »

With deep regret I annouce the passing away of my guru Vidushi Sugandha Raman, Veteran vocalist and Vainika, on March 25, 2013, at the age of 93. She leaves behind her daughter Dr Sakuntala Narasimhan, sons Krishnan Gorur and G Rajnarayan, and grandchildren.
A multifaceted personality, she belonged to the Tillaisthanam sishya parampara of Tyagaraja.
A very brief note about her can be viewed on this link: http://www.kamalakeertana.org/Sugandha_ ... assion.php

Condolences to the family!! It is always sad to hear about passing away of tradition-torch-bearers!! Hope the family has recorded some of the rare krithis--especially the Thillaisthanam School "preserves".

Nor did I know of the family tree!
How very endowed and devoted to music she must have been, making music the love and business of the family! The family and her students benefited.

Radhika,
When I went past your place once, I wondered how you were. For a moment, even thought of stepping in but didn't want to bother you, arriving unannounced... We will meet next time when I'm in Bengaluru.
