Ravi Kiran N coverage of artists

Post by hnbhagavan »

Dear friends,

I find it strange, but some very senior musicians find very little coverage in the forum. One glaring example is Ravi Kiran.Though under Vidwans,a column is opened, there is hardly any coverage.Infact,he is a very keen Carnatic musician. In bangalore his concerts are very far and few.
I hope Chennai rasikas will provide details of his concerts and achievements in future.

Yes, he doesn't give that many concerts (in Chennai too).

Many of us at RasikAs.org admire his music. Not only that. We are very proud to have him here in our midst. His amazing knowledge in music and his training in CM don't need any mention--nor his brilliance.
He is an authority on Venkata kavi and shares his thoughts on many musical topics ( not that I can understand all of it!). He is a treasure house of knowledge in music
who takes the time, and freely shares some of his thoughts with us.

You will also find concert reviews of his on the forum (of course, not many because he does not play that much in India). His interests are as many as his talents. That's why he is traveling to many cities of the world. He's busy as a teacher too.
The music he has been composing for the dance dramas at Cleveland is admirable. I can't wait to see his creation this year as well (thanks to technology).

Easter Sunday, we will see yet another of his creations at Cleveland. Tyagaraja the Traveler. I quote from the Aradhana program--"a unique presentation, making the debut of North American Melharmonic (NAMO) under Ravikiran's direction".

May his work flourish for many more years to come!

Ravi Kiran is a born genius who does not rest on his laurels or pedigree but continues to innovate. He is a pleasure to listen to during the lec-dems @ the MA during the season. If I had the power I would elect him Sangita Kalanidhi despite his young age--his contributions are always constructive.
I am eagerly looking forward to his reviews from the Cleveland festival.
More power to his elbow!!!

hnbhagavan, yes not much material in the Vidwan section, but Sri. Ravikiran is one of us here, a member of this forum as Arasi states above. He initiates and participates in discussions of great scholarship and enlighten us on many aspects of music.
