Just catching up on the various threads...
A non-standard neraval line used by DKJ for "Appa Rama bhakti" is "Lakshmi devi valachuna, lakshmanundu goluchuna" - just brilliant. This is from his 1979 Shanmukhananda Hall concert - a real gem of a katcheri.
I must have listened to this concert at least 500 times...(really!)

A very impressive example of this (and unparallaled to my knowledge) is the SSI/MS version of tyAgayyA's magnum opus in kAmbhoji, "evarimATa vinavO rAvO". While 99.99999% of the world stops at "evarimATa", SSI quickly adds "vinavO" to every repetition. You can even hear MSS taper off at 'evarimATa" but not SSI.rshankar wrote:Not sure if this is the correct place for this, but I have a question for the forum: I recently heard a version of kAdhambarI priyAyai (MD?, mOhanam), and during the KS (no neraval, but just KS), the artist after each section of the swarAs, would just say 'kAdham', not 'kAdhambarI': it just did not sound right to me. Is this type of ungrammatical splitting of words an accepted practice? Or am I just reacting to singing like this because I am so used to the SSI/MSS style?
Thanks.
