Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi's Kamakshi Navavaranams are among the most brilliant creations in Indian music and culture. They blend deep erudition, emotion, devotion and are full of information related to intricacies of Srividya worship including names of chakras, yoginis & mudra devatas. The composer has chosen to venture into areas that few have even conceptualized such as the use of rare talas like Sankeerna Mathyam, Khanda Dhruvam and ragas such as Balahamsa and Deshakshi. As the doyen of Carnatic Music, Shri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer declared, 'Venkata Kavi's creations are on par with the Carnatic Trinity'.
