The concert was a very chaste presentation of Karnatic music with no gimmicks whatsoever. The three raga alapanais of Yadukulahambhoji, poorviKalyani and KedaraGowlai were exemplary. The neraval in Ksheerasagara sayi at
“ un thiruvadi bhajaname jeevadharam” was extremely beautiful
The accompanying artists added verve and vitality to the presentation.

It was a lovely concert. On top of Sumithra's exquisite singing, the accompanists certainly did add. The mridangam was sparkling and musical, with many details that made me smile, and the violin was just right, adding personal creativity whilst keeping the returns appropriate.

It is unusual for me to travel so far for a concert, but the venue made it well worth it. The ambience was wonderful. Thanks to Sureshvv, whose company made the drive stress free and enjoyable. Apologies to those who invited us to eat: the convoy got ahead of us, and we got lost.

I was only aware of this concert through kutcheries.com. I hope the organisers get their future concerts listed there. One wouldn't do it every day, but it is not so far to travel for a favourite artist.

Oh! Nice to meet you here on rasikas.org. :)

Do you hold regular concerts there? What a nice thing to do. You could always announce them here on rasikas.org too.

Indeed, we were sorry to miss our meal and socialising, and to have to make do with Hotel Mamala.

rajeshnat,
A rasika from Karntaka in our sabha, confirms that it is indeed a vachana from Basavanna

Good! Thanks for that. It may well increase your audience. It is a long way from Chennai, though...

And it can take as long to reach Mylapore even, but at the cost of less petrol and much less danger!
