Re: BANGALORE RASIKAS MEET
Cienu - Thank you so much for sharing!! Greedy me wants to know if the music was recorded, and if that could be shared as well!
What a lovely picture of your mother and Smt. Neela! The picture with three of them (do not know the third) is like the three dEvis.
I have very fond memories of the 'fall-out' and far-reaching impact of the previous get-together at your place, so, here's to hoping for many more of these, with organizers like Sri Nageswaran, and gracious hosts like Sri Cienu, and Smt. Geetha!

Re: BANGALORE RASIKAS MEET
Thank you Cineu Sir and Geeta Ma'm for the wonderful evening.
Thanks to Shri Nageswaran sir for taking the lead to organise this get-together.
The presence of Sri Rajasekhar took us closer to GNB the legend.
Neela Mami's music took us to a different tangent altogether.
Aishwarya's Veena Recital - She is a wonderful veena artist. Total control over the instrument, especially while handling bhriga sangatis... I am becoming addicted to it.
And as usual Radha Paatti blessed all of us with her divine radiance.
Food was awesome, special thanks to Geeta Ma'm for that. I relished and ate with gusto...
Waiting eagerly for the video recordings
Thank you everyone once again.

It is very nice to see the reports and the pictures. I guess that so much happens in Chennai that, occasionally, we mustn't mind it happening somewhere else! Actually, maybe Bangalore currently takes the lead in rasikas.org offline social life.

Re: BANGALORE RASIKAS MEET
I have had the chance to be at two of the Rasikas.org meets in Chennai and have enjoyed Cienu and Geetha's hospitality several times. I shouldn't complain at all....
Still, what a miss on my part!
Cienu,
I was surprised when Sumitra wrote to me saying that you had invited her for the meet and had asked her to sing my songs! I will know what she did sing, when I get to see the clips.
Jayan did a great job of photographing the event along with you (so, we get to see both of you!). Finally, get we to see what Sachi looks like! So good to see Nageswaran and GBL dampathi (Ravi, the third devi seen along with Radha and Neela is Lalitha (Gobi)!
Among familiar faces, I see some unknown ones. Kindly help identify them!
A pity gardhaba gana, Sappri, Kssr(s) and sirsub among those who rsvp-ed couldn't make it.
Your children are always a joy to be with and to listen to. Seeing your mother and Neela together in the pictures made me feel so happy--two women I admire no end for their spirit and immense musical gift.
With some luck, I might be able to make it to the house concert at the end of the year when Aishwarya is going to play along with her teacher.

seems that everyone had a great fun. i managed to discuss offline from few of those who attend the meet
That photo uploaded by RSachi and #81 uploaded by braindrain! haunting...ceinu sir - just awsome..i was listening to some choicest recordings of MS amma that evening to make up for the loss.
Haven't heard keerthi singing, i am sure it was as brilliant as his knowledge in music.
Waiting eagerly for video recordings in youtube.

Dear Rasikas,
In spite of my many time constrains, I was able to complete all the Videos which were recorded in my video cam by Sri Badriprasad, our Rasika.
Many thanks to Sri Badriprasad.
I have converted the Video files to DIVX.
There is some problem in converting to DIVX of serial No. 7 wherein Mrs. Sumithra Nitin had sung Arasi’s composition. This will be uploaded later.
Some tidbit Videos are to be converted to DIVX and these will be uploaded in due course.
The much eagerly awaited Video download links in drop box of mine is given below.

Cienu,
Thanks for posting Geetha's picture promptly. Isn't one of her best pictures, though! I can see her in another new picture, in the background--more like her!
CML,
The behAg song for you. I'm just typing it as I remember it. Lakshman has this song, and also Arun in his kriti book. This song is from the first CD which you have. You can listen to her there with good accompanists too.
BehAg Adi
Pallavi: makkaLa ATava nODiri, nIvu (makkaLa)
A.Pallavi: mahAvishNu emba gOpAla
kiri maguvAgi gOkula ramisidanthE (makkaLa)
charaNams: maghnarAgi ADuva cheluva kANIrE!
tanu manavondAgi, buguriyAgi thirugi
cheNDAgi kuNiva kuthUhala namagU bEkendu (makkaLa)

makkaLu mana marethADuva ATa

Interesting. in the KavidaigaL thread, PB's poem and your addition to it has the same as the idea expressed here!

Arasi,
Sumitra did a good job of singing your composition. I have told her to choreograph and present it soon as it lends itself eminently to dance with three/four girls. She has readily agreed!
(magnarAgi ....I think g is alpaprANa).

You are right, and you know your sanskrit and kannaDa very well (I have a sketchy knowledge of both!). Since my editing facility on Rasikas does not work at the moment, I hope srkris, VK or CML will correct the text.
Thanks for thinking that it's worthy of being choreographed. Sumitra will do a very good job of it. She was keen on turning 'Chinnak kaiyai virithenniDam veNNai kELAyO?' into a dance piece.

Re: BANGALORE RASIKAS MEET
Seems to have been a great gathering. Knowing them, I am sure Cienu and Geetha were the quintessetially gracious hosts. Congrats to Nageshwaran and Cienu for their efforts. I will get to the videos when I get time. Nice to see an identity behind "braindrain" whose posts I have enjoyed. "Ignoramus" is another insightful poster I have had the pleasure of meeting. Then there's Keerthi, definitely a national treasure
. Seems like a lot of self-effacing folks in Bangalore.

And K.S.Jaishankar (is this the same Jaishankar who has shared so many priceless recordings online? If so, I owe you a lifelong debt of gratitude !)

Uday
I am like a fatso jumping into the swimming pool for my first lesson. Sorry if I splash around too much in the midst of ace swimmers viz. scholars, stalwarts and veterans like you, Keerthi, Arasi, VKM, Mahavishnu, Varsha, Cienu, Nick, aaaabbbbb, Venkatakailasam, Nageswaran and others....

Re: BANGALORE RASIKAS MEET
Sachi Sir - You omitted one RaghavT who played Mridangam with batteries
) As you rightly pointed out, people have seen veenas and violins with batteries and stuff...this is the first time this innovation has taken place. And also, he has joined this forum way back in 2007. :p
Coming back to the recodings - Neela mami's music continues to ring my ears... vidwat is stamped on each and every expression. Manjunath Sir's Kalyani, Ashwarya's Shreeman Narayana - Especially the Shreeman (MS effect Sangati)... and veena (though not in the videos uploaded here) continues to be the highlight according to me.
This event is going to be in active memory of all of us for quite a long time...

Re: BANGALORE RASIKAS MEET
Thanks arasi.
You are a polyglot who knows to use the languages effectively and musically.
I agree with Rsachi that choreographing will make the meaning universal...
Sumitra captures the spirit of your compositions!
Uday
very well put! The Bangalore Rasikas are finished gems while the rest are uncut
cienu has provided a homely atmosphere in which they all appear as members of a large family
which they are! Nageswaran has the right idea and chemistry to bring out the best among us all!
Hats off to Keerthi whose youth belies his intelleect! We are lucky to have such abundance of talents
all available to us at the Forum in addition to the technical skills which folks like you Rsachi, Ramesh...
provide as and when needed.

Re: BANGALORE RASIKAS MEET
Raghav,
The meeting was overwhelming to all who attended, so don't think you were overlooked. The same way in which you didn't 'mean' to to miss mentioning Sumitra Nitin and others in your list.
Neela (gnaanam on Rasikas.org) is gnAnam personified. Add to it dedication, experience and imagination--that's her. As she emphasizes in her intro, 'make a vow'...I couldn't follow all of what she said because of the sound quality (my ears plead guilty too!).
Can you describe the new innovation? 'Sounds' interesting!
CML,
Adding this as I see your post. Thanks for your faith in me.
Condidering names in the above lists, you belong there more than most of us. Proud as we are about the quality of the rasikAs here, I've to add that but for a few casual posters, Rasikas.org members are a dynamic bunch--no matter how old or young they are, and wherever they all come from.
So, let's not get carried away and say Bengaluru rasikAs are the best :-!
