To my knowledge there is no source of information on the contemporary influence of Vaggeyakaras during their life time or a century of their life time. Extracts from published works of contemporary authors-Prose or Poetry form in Sanskrit/Telugu/Tamil/Kannada/Malayalam/Tulu/Hindi, would be very useful. I am keen on the research on influence of their compositions on the contemporary vaggeyakara/musicians/music scholars/Poets/Statesmen/Ruler/Prominent person.
Any research done and published ? To my knowledge, in the works of Biopics, some information is given. Detailed information on influence on contemporary Religion and Bhakthi practices and movement, Literature, Politics, Justice and Social life and practice, is not to be found.
Can you help me with information/knowledge/source? If there is not much historical writing and publishing on record, it will be worthwhile for a doctoral thesis or research work and its publication.
Keenly awaiting response.

Munirao: I guess people do not have any information to share.
Give an example or two that illustrates what you are looking for. That may orient people better to think about this.

To give example of contemporary influence of Vaggeyakaras, let us take the Haridasas. Their compositions inspired other Haridasas, revived the Bhakthi movement and also helped to seriously rethink the bad social practices-materialism, caste prejudices and ritualistic religion etc. Thyagaraja has paid tribute to Purandara Dasa " Duritav vratamulellanu parimarchedi, Hari gunamula paduchu nepudun, paravasudy velayu Purandara Dasuni mahimamula padeda nepudun", even though strictly not contemporary. Mudduswami Dikshita's composition 'Seshachala Naikam, extols "Purandaradi satpalaka sankasa nandandi..."
Let us seriously research and contemplate and publish this vital information for the benefit of Indian Classical Music, its practitioners, students, rasikas and the general public.
