Dear CML,

Amma and Aishwarya (accompanying Amma) sang this on Sep 16th 2007 at Narada Gana Sabha, on the occasion of the 91st birthday celebrations of MS Amma.
This was Aishwarya's first public concert..

Cienu,
Just saw and heard this! All of us who were children when independence arrived, remember this song which gave us goose bumps when we heard it all around us for months, as freedom came!

Thanks for letting us relive the patriotic fervor of our days!

I haven't heard this NGS concert clip of Aishwarya's debut performance before. Grandmother and grand daughter sing serenely, sweetly! Little Soundarya even then looks like a VIP!

May not be relevant to this thread. But the best thing I liked about that programme was this thillana, for the simple reason that they sang it in dEshAdi talam. Smt.Radha puts the talam beautifully. Listen to what she says before beginning the thillana.

Thanks Ravisri. I wouldn't have noticed it had you not pointed Radha V's way with the tALam there!

And Aishwarya's earnestness shows even then!

Aahaa! Sabhash! Besh... Besh, Rsachi for the excellent theme.

Can someone post DKP's Santhi Nilava Vendum which in my opinion will bring tears to our eyes. And of course bharathiar patriotic songs. Also MS's viruttam ending Gandhi Mahatma Nee Vaazhga ...Vaazhga . The TV relay had Theratheeyaka raadaa after the viruttam.

Indeed we are proud to be Indians. Hamaara paas Carnatic music hai :)

Can some one pl.post the words of the sloka Smt. Radha andAishwarya have sung in the Bengali song? It is somewhere in the middle. The words go something like 'chandrarka tArA'. Thanks.
