Re: Nadasurabhi 3 day Karnataka Vaibhava 16, 17, 18 th Augus
The karnataka vaibhava schedule 2013 is posted here. Today's veena concert of Ashwin Anand was a grand one with a good RTP in Begada. I will post list of songs, etc., if no one else does.
Tomorrow, saturday is Amrutha venkatesh and
Sunday is RKP . All at 6 PM.
( One of the rasikas has somehow brought out the 2012 karnataka vaibhava string and posted a message now. Hope that string does not confuse the rasikas)

Re: Nadasurabhi 3 day Karnataka Vaibhava 16, 17, 18 th Augus
Sri. RK Padmanabha concluded the three day Karnataka Vaibhava with a cracker of a concert on 18th August 2013. There were several songs by Karnataka composers. The most important items were a longish alapana of poorvikalyani followed by his own composition - NADASURABHI, KANNADA NADU - in Tamil. He confessed that he doesn't know Tamil. But it was still passable. Swarams too followed.
The main was an RTP in Bhairavi with a crisp alapanai, his trademark kind of thaanam with sounds of birds, bells, frogs, etc incorporated. The pallavi was set to a 28 beat cycle and no one including the percussionists had any idea about it. It was clarified that it was in Sangeetha shasttra and is ekadasa ( one + ten) jampa taalam in 2 kalai.
RKP's booming voice and perfection in presentation cannot be complained about by anyone. The overdose of his innovations may make the overall concert experience less interesting.
CNC on violin was good as usual. Chealuvaraj and Swamy managed well.
