The first song was by Muthiah Bhagavatar in Hamsadhwani, Jaya Jaya Mahishasuramardini. The ragamalika by Purandara Dasa started as Elu Narayana.

Amrutha did an outstanding job of ragas and swaras in Chakravakam and Gowrimanohari. These gave a really solid feel for the concert.

BK Raghu was very tuneful and responsive. Ravishankar was a trifle loud but did well during tani after Gowrimanohari (Rupaka tala).

First time I heard Amrutha live and I can say she will surely go far, as she oozes confidence, intelligence and creativity, apart from an effective style, focussing on speed or a laid-back approach as occasion demands. Her style of singing rarely seems to strain her vocal chords and she is always very melodious.

The Desakshi song by Swathi Thirunal was extremely well sung and whoever tuned it has done a wonderful job. Similarly the Vyasaraya song in Bridavani was very memorable.

The audience which peaked around 60 waxed and waned but the regulars in the form of gods and saints looking down from the wall pictures numbered around 80 and stayed throughout. Can't say the same for the front row (organisers etc.) who trooped out midway.

The mike worked well for the violin, was loud for the mridangam and distorted for the voice.
Amrutha and team had great attitude and did a good job. I enjoyed the concert very much.

Interesting! Amrutha sang the lyrics with some different words, with mudrike Purandara Vitthala. (She also mentioned after the song how PD had composed a few lakh songs)

To be taken with a pinch of salt. Assuming PD composed for 40 years spending 10 hours each day composing an average of a song per hour, he would have composed 1,46,000 songs. In practice it seems a bit of an optimistic estimate.

I wonder how Veda vyas managed to write down Vedas, Mahabharata , and many other voluminous literature in just one life span. It may also be possible that in THOSE DAYS people lived for a few hundred years

Facebook is a marketing tool for many. People like you and me can get dragged into conversations and groups we could do without. The downsides far outweigh the benefits in my opinion unless you carefully monitor your 'friends'.

There s a KVN group where some headhunters are regularly posting jobs etc.!
