Dr. M Narmadha relives the memory of the violin virtuoso Padmashri Kunnakudi R Vaidyanathan on 8th September , at Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai.

She will present Karnatic hits of Shri Kunnakudi R Vaidyanathan on his Remembrance Day.

This is a very special concert conceived by Dr. Narmadha as ‘Melodies of Kunnakudi’ and hosted in association with Narada Gana Sabha Trust & Padmashri Nalli Avargal.

What a wonderful idea for a concert! It is very nice to see the legacy of Kunnakkudi avl being celebrated by Dr. Narmadha.

Hearing Dr.Namradha play kunnakudi hits on Sri. Kunnakudi's remembrance day was an unique experience.
It was fascinating for Parur MSG style fans to see her play Kunnakudi's touches and nuances.
As a disciple of violin, watching Kunnakudi perform songs like madura mani is interesting, because of the varisais he used to play in the song.
Sri. Kunnakudi used to keep the pA string as Top Sa while playing which makes a bit easy to play the high notes.
I was hoping that Dr.M.Narmadha would do the same inorder to imbibe the technique.
Surprisingly she was using the regular tuning only. The inference here would be so to say is, the control and sanchara in three octaves was so effortlessly covered in MSG style that playing these notes of Sri.Kunnakudi was also handled very effectively.
Overall it was thrilling to hear and also remember the legend Sri.Kunnakudi through this wonderful concert at Naradagana sabha minihall.

Sri. Kunnakudi is one artist who was able to reach the common man through his performances. Vel vanthu vinai theerka, Karunai mukhangal ooraru, Thirparam kundrathil nee sirithaal...soolamangalam rendered songs were some of the popular murugan songs.
Dr.M.Narmadha in her performance, pointed out the aspects of melody, research, rendering techniques that Sri.Kunnakudi followed and how he was able to come up with amazing results when it comes to playing a song, or doing swaras.
The songs pandurithi, maruthamalai, atana raga , swaras of vatapi gave a feeling of listening to Sri.Kunnakudi live on his remembrance day.
