Sri. TS Parthasarathy, the grand old scholar and erstwhile secretary of the Music Academy passed away earlier today at his residence in Chennai. Although aged 94 and confined to his home and wheelchair, TSP mama remained alert and sprightly to his last days. He was a one-stop source for musicians and scholars looking for reference material and authoritative information on music & dance matters. Visiting and spending time with him was a privilege. May his soul rest in peace!

The other by Lakshmi Devanath:

My personal feelings pretty much echo the sentiments expressed in Sowmya's article. He left a deep impression on me in the few years that I have known, loved and respected him. About three weeks back, when it had been a couple of months since my last visit to TSP mama's house, he phoned me and wondered why I hadn't shown up to collect some of the articles he had promised to give. I pleaded guilty, citing work constraints and lack of time and promised to go the next week. To my eternal regret, that never happened... the next time I went was last Friday, not to pick up the promised articles but to be a pall-bearer on that great soul's last journey.
