I am not sure of the meaning of the words (or the words themselves) in several places - if someone else can clarify, it will help both you and me.

Oh mind (manamE), please meditate (bhaji) on the lotus-like feet (padAravindamE) of murugA (kanda vEL) that grant (tarum) unending bliss (sadAnandamE)!

I feel 'mA Kanda kaDal 'means Kandan or Murugan who is as vast or as big(mA) like an ocean. One can fine usages like 'mA mEru, mA munivar' etc.

Here is my take:-

I think it is not 'kathAnanda mAkanda' -- it should be 'gadA-nanda mA-ganda'.
We do come across similar errors in transliteration from Tamil.

கதா நந்த (gadA nanda) > கதை (gadA) போன்ற மலை கொண்டு கடைந்ததால் கிடைத்த
மா கந்த (mA ganda) > மிக்க மணமுடைய
கடல் அமுதம் தன்னையே > கடலில் கிடைத்த அமுதத்தையே
ஆராயும்தோருமே > அருந்தினால் என்னவாகும் என்று ஆராயும்போது கூட

I think the third allusion refers to the episode when thirumal came to the rescue of the elephant Gajendra
