You might be having the details of Performances in Chennai Music Season-2013 by now. Who are the New(performing for the first time) Vidwan(s) and Vidushi(s), immensely talented and potential maestros given opportunity to perform?

Rao-garu,
I suspect it's a bit like the present Indian team. Lots of talent, Well known, well entrenched, new but not unknown, and rising stars. Depending on the pitch and toss, different players shine in the match. There are some with a strong Chennai lobby and one wonders what makes them stay on the team.

I know she is not new on the scene --- but my best-concert-by-a-youngster experience of the last few months was that of K P Nandini.

Two or three opportunities, this season, to hear her sing, and quite a few to hear her accompany on violin.

Another one is
Parassala Ponnammal's Young protege - N J Nandini

N J Nandini from Trivandrum, who is the granddaughter of Vechur Harihara Subramanya Iyer, has become a known figure among budding musicians. Now she is under the advanced tutelage of Parassala Ponnammal and Kumara kerala Varma, a disciple of Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer.
Read about her at http://www.sabhash.com/music/face-to-fa ... andini.htm

and listen..

Somebody strongly recommended Brinda Manickavasakam to me the other day. I haven't seen her yet.

Established, but still young, K Gayathri is likely to become a favourite of mine. I have only seen her twice.

Just to prove that I can take my eyes off the ladies... V Bharat Kumar is someone I should like to see much more often (although somehow I've managed to miss his last couple of concerts). Great lineage, great future, but I believe that professional commitments limit his appearances.

Some of these have participated and got recognized through Jaya TV Ideal star singer programs.
They all deserve to be recognized by CM Rasikas as young and budding CM artistes...

K. Gayatri should be doing given her recent performances ...

She is the disciple of Kalaimamani Smt. Suguna Purushothaman of the Musiri and Semmangudi Parampara and she has also been learning under Vidushi Suguna Varadachari.

She has been performing concerts in all the major sabhas in Chennai and elsewhere for over 10 years. An A graded All India Radio artist, Gayatri also has numerous awards to her credit, including the Yuva Kala Bharathi from Bharat Kalachar and The Best Concert Award from the Music Academy in the years 2011 and 2013 and the Kalki Krishnamurthy Memorial Award, to name a few.

Gayatri has performed around the world both individually as well as accompanying her guru Smt. Suguna Purushotham. She also won The Ramabhadran Award from Tag Centre and The MLV Award instituted by CMANA in the year 2012.( katcheri.com)

She is having a Dozen program from 7th Dec. to 9th Jan 2014 at various sabhas..
