Thank you all. It is a rare privilege to receive this and I consider this a special blessing from Shri Veena Raja Rao himself and his esteemed family members. It is also humbling to receive this against the backdrop of the previous recipients - who have been mammoth contributors - such as Shri R K Shrikanthan, Prof Vishweshwaran etc. A further honour is that Dr Radha Vishwanathan, whom I've known and admired from my childhood, will be giving it to me and Shri Mysore Subhramanya will be presiding.
I do look forward to seeing you all!

Re: Veena Raja Rao National Award for Chitravina N Ravikiran
The award function was just excellent. The children of Sri Raja Rao are doing a nobel service to promote Carnatic Music, by selecting Carnatic Musicians of fame year after year for this award. The function started with a melodious invocation "Maithrim Bhajatha" by Aishwarya. The sheer presence of Dr Radha Viswanathan on the stage brought dignity to the function. Dr Purnima D/O of Sri Raja Rao welcomed every one for the function. Dr Purnima went into details about their big family of sisters( seven) and brothers(three) who cherish this award function each year.I believe, Sri Raja Rao jokingly used to mention the seven daughters as sa-ri- ga- ma- pa-da-ni and three sons as Sa-Pa- Sa. She spoke of Vidwan Ravi Kiran who was a prodigy at the tender age of two years and who has now grown to be called Indian Mozart was the fitting vidwan chosen for this year's award.
After the brief AWARD presentation, Vidwan Ravi Kiran was asked to speak. Sri Ravi Kiran was nostalgic that he was born in Mysore. He attributed his success in music career to his illustrious father who was a strict disciplinarian and also his guru. He also spoke of his music heritage. He gave a word of advise to students. A mere 4 to 5 hrs sleep is more than sufficient and one should practice music in the remaining hours. Music practice is de-stressing than distressing!. Musicians who were Nadopasakas have led a quite a long life. He also mentioned that during his gurukula vasam at home, it was music, music music only .24x 7;every minute/second he was just submerged in music. He cherished this illustrious award presented by none other than Dr Radha Viswanathan.
Prof Subramanya, great grand son of Veena Seshanna recollected the illustrious family of Sri Raja Rao and their connection to Mysore Palace. He also spoke of young Ravi Kiran's talents which were demonstrated at a private house in Malleswaram when he was hardly two years old. He also mentioned that not all child prodiges become great, Sri Ravi Kiran by sheer hard work and practice has reached the stage in which he is giving concerts in different parts of the world. He likened this to Garuda who travels carrying Lord Narayana to different destinations, where as Ravi Kiran is propagating Carnatic Music to different parts of the world as a true " Ravi" kiran.
Sri Srinivasan(Cienu) spoke on behalf of his illustrious mother. He conveyed that their family is very happy to have got associated with Sri Raja Rao's Memorial Trust and family members. Equally happy that Dr Radha Viswanathan in spite of her health was very happy to be present and gave the award to Sri Ravi Kiran.
Sri Ravi Kiran's concert followed.
MC did a good job of compering the program by introducing all the eminent personalities on the stage by highlighting their awards and achievements.

I had to add that Sri Ravikiran did mention that he was an "Hyper Active" child and would have been in Govt Care if he was born in USA.He thanked for being born in India and he could grow in CM field.
