I attended the concert too.. I thought he sang brilliantly. Sri mathrubhutham was outstanding. So was paras and mohanam. I thought RK shriramkumar was v good too. I think enough has said about TMK's new format and eccentricities .. And i went with no expectations and the concert was v good
Wish he continues this good singing... Or maybe morning slots suit him better lol

Also i thought he sang dhanyasi ragam after mohanam? Before atana

Lovely list...A small correction....The pASuram should be anru ivvulagam aLandAi [that day, or once in the past (anru) you measured (aLandAi) this (iv) world ulagam)]...andri ulagam sounds like someone or something that is not of this world!

Nice to start about this concert. Just adding my thoughts on this with the concert list..

Concert “ho to isa” was the “thinking”, I had, after attending TMK’s MFAC Concert.

First of all, I need to tell about RKS, he improvised each and every return and make TMK to delve further on the rAgA and swarams. That is the different between other violinists accompanying TMK. Sitting the first row, I watched very closely how RKS induced him. TMK’s improvisation, normally, is very good, RKS adds glory to it. His kannadA swaram is one acid test for this.

TMK performed a vintage one with all the stuff his rasikas yearning for. A full house, despite having the ”fear” of knowing (or not knowing) the “duration” of the concert, revealed the “bhakti” of rasikas to TMK.

Interestingly (even sadly,) clappings were scant. Even for RKS return.

R.K.Sriramkumar-violin
Arun Prakash-mridhangam
B.S.Purushottaman-Ganjira

Kannada- Sri.mAtubhotham- 1 minute rAgam and neraval in “bhAsamAna navAvaraNam, dAsajana santosha karanam.” and swaram. It was very moving “neraval”. Rarely one took neraval in this kriti and TMK aptly displayed the genius in this. As the meaning of the second part goes“ThAyumAnavar is the reason for happiness of the bhaktas. I thought that TMK was the reason to make us happy and enjoy.

Paras- nIlayadAkshi nivE jagatsAkshi- Triputa tAla Shyama SAstri sAhityam- a brilliant portrayal of rAgam in paras (parasu as told by TMK) and Swaram in this.
It is a joy to see his improvisiation, he moves his hand in such a way, the rAgam moves in to different dimensions within the precincts. Sheer classicm.

karnAtaka beHag- nE nendu vedagudu rA. – long time unheard kriti. Interestingly, in sangeethasudha website, this kriti is mentioned as hari kAmbodhi. Is it same ?

Todi (7 min)-return-mOhanam (6 min)-return-atAna (1 min) followed by “TiruvotTriyoor Thyagarajan”
GhAnam Krishna iyer’s padam . A typical kriti for dancers.

He took the neraval in the interesting line in anupallavi- “uruvathilE avarai kaNda pin ohO nAn enna sheivEn” (when I see Him in person, what would I do ?). A typical dance movements’ line. TMK took this and excelled it by singing “3 times” “ohO” and nAn enna sheivEn..

It was truly an experience to enjoy these lines. (For this line, the rasikAs must have shown their expression in their faces)
Tani

“OonEru selvattu udal piRavi yAn vEndEn”- AzhvAr pAsuram on Tiruvengadam followed by “arRu ivvulagam”- TiruppAvai- Sindu bhairavi

Hamir kalyAni- SharadE karunAnidhE- Sri Sri ChandrasEkhara bhArati mahA swamji of sringEri pEEtam, tuned in this rAga by RSK.. He rendered the rAgam for two minutes and even he took the neraval in “hasta sangruta pustakAkshapatI “ but did not take more time as the time was 11.50 PM. The next concert was 12 PM.

About the Hamir kalyAni kriti- There is one CD released by SringEri “Sharadha stuti manjari”- RK sriramkumar tuned the rAgams and soulfully rendered by Bombay Jaishree. A must listen to rasikas.
Mangalam.

Tani - By the time, I settled for Tani, it was over !!!.

My half day permission (?) to my office did not go waste. Excellant concert.
