Vani Mahal- 6.30 PM

Warning- Anyone who wants to go to 6.30 PM concert at main hall- go with sweater or coat with ear buds, blanket. It was freezing cold and pity those old people who come all sort of woolen things…

No body clapped (including me) as I could see they could not unfold their hands, folded to the chest because of cold.

Ra ga gave 3 hour “superlative” performance here. Shankarabaranam and chandrakauns RTP by Ga, are exemplary.

Saraswathi- rAgam by Ra followed by Saraswathi namOstutE- GNB. – Neraval in “sura sEvita pada yugaLE sudhAkara
samadhavaLE” and swaram. Roopakam.

Eppadi manam tunindhadho- HusEni- ArunAchala kavi.

Shankarabharanam- beautiful alapana by Ga and good return by violin- followed by Sri. DakshiNa mUrthE- Dikshitar.

Swaram - Excellent exchange of swarAs.

nEE kelanA – dEva manOhari- rAmanathapuram SrinivAsa Iyengar. Fast kriti to welcome RTP.

RTP- Chandrakauns – kanta jAti triputa- eduppu- 1/4 “idam” adhEEta eduppu.- Pallavi line- “Chandra kalAdhari shatodhari shankari, pari pAlayamam”
Raga mAlika pallavi in aTanA, chandrajyoti, karnaranjani, jogkauns (a mixture of rAg Jog and chandrakauns) - Violinist caught the nuances of jogkauns and repeated excellently. Very good show.

As they are expert in abhang type rAgAs, chandrakauns suited very well, Ga is a “dare devil” like MLV and her blistering attack of rAga was awesome.

Virutham-nArAyanA- Sudha danyasi- Dasar

Abhang. Janma janmi amhi- Is it “mAnd” ?

Tani was also good.
