Accompanied by mullaivAsal chandramouli- violin , manojshiva - mridangam and anirudh athreya-kanjira

1. sri nAthadi (N,S) - mAyamAlavagowlai - MD
2. mayuranAtham (R,S) - dhanyAsi - MD
3. guha saravana bhava shivabAla (R, N) - simmhendramadhyamam - pApanAsam sivan
4. nannu kanna thalli - kesari - thyagarAja

5A. viruttam "vel piditha karathAne... thiruparan kunranmel" - nAyaki-???
5B. murugA murugA ennum - nAyaki?? - spencer venugOpal??
6. shree subramanyAya namasthe(R,N,S,T) -kAmbOdhi - MD

7A.viruttam "ee enru nAn oruvar" - yamunakalyAni + "ulagil chee enru pezhenru" -?? +"ThAy enru chennaiyil kanda" -sindhubhairavi - rAmalinga swamigal
7B. KAntamAm kadhir KAmamthannil - sindhubhairavi - mAyuram vishwanatha sastri
8. KajAmbAya kOrakshatu ?? - jinjothi - MD

9. Kandar anuboothi - rAgamAliga - arunagirinAthar
10. slokham - madhyamavati

I went to hear vijayashiva thinking it was an ordinary concert,It turned out to be a treat , as the concert was a thematic concert on Lord murugA being kanda shasthi day. Incidentally his repertoire was evident and his diction was perfect in both sanskrit and tamil.

Liked every number the first mmgowlai was excellent and the rAga alApana of dhanyAsi was very good. The best to me was his simmhendramadhyamam krithi especially the neraval in the lines "malaOrudu irupuram irumAdhar marupama?? manithiru varuvAya" where he used the odd phrases to start every neraval round at 3 piDi points .Outstanding neraval for atleast 10 minutes.

The kAmbOdhi alApanai was excellent with more akaram and less tha da ri na . He brought in all the charm till the neraval in the lines "vasAvathi sakala". The neraval of 12 minutes was followed only with a 6 minutes of swaram. would have been nice if he had given more lift to swaram.

Every virutham was excellent , especially the round up of sindhubhairavi to kAntamAm was perfect. The last kandar anuboothi had about 30 lines in rAgamaliga. To me that was too rushed and with him not even repeating any line twice ,it appeared very below average. I neither caught the sangathi or the rAga , but I was only able to appreciate his depth in the last arunagirinAthar composition.

M.chandramouli was very good in violin showing pakkavadya dharmam well, the mridangist was little loud . Anirudh played very well. Tani was average. Mrs YGP, the bharatkalachar and PSBB school founder spoke for few minutes . She said "The purpose of starting padma seshadri school is evident today as all 4 in stage were alumnis of the school. "

OVerall vijayashiva with his diction, traditional padhantharam and no gimmicks really gave an excellent concert. The concert was just for 2 hours , I am sure vijayashiva could have sung for atleast another half an hour.

Yum yum yum!! Ironically, I was under the impression that the Kesari item was on Devi.

The Ramalinga Swamigal virutham is one of my favourites...actually...most of them are. However, I'm afraid he might not have done it justice - sure his melody and manodharmam would've been fine...but appropriate?

Pity this wouldn't have been recorded...

mAyUranAtham is a kRti in praise of ISvara. nannu ganna talli is indeed on dEvi.

The item no.8 is gajAmbAnAyakO rakShatu of MD in jhunjUTi. It was part of DKP DKJ repertoire.

Mayuranatham is an interesting choice...seeing it begins with what seems like Peacock...but then the very obvious references to nandikesham and mahesham would've foiled that plan.

ravi,
It appears the krithi is sindhu kannaDa(not kAnaDa) , not kesari . I felt it very close as a janya of harikAmbOdhi ,like prathapavarAli . That also means I am assuming kesari (janya of #25 melakartha mAraranjani) is significantly different from sindhu kannada

AFAIK, the name kEsari and sindhukannaDa are both seen in sources for nannu kannatalli - and it's been sung as a janya of mELa 28 only.

It is the same case as rAga sudhArasa (AndOLika/mayUradhvani) and evarani (nAdachintAmaNi/dEvAmrtavarShiNi)

The url http://www.karnatik.com/c2585.shtml says kEsari is a janya of mArarAnjani.

The information on kEsari at the karnatik.com site is from B.Subba Rao's Raganidhi book.
