A grand kAmbhOji AlApanai followed by koniyAdina nApai. Made my day!

now n@ninnu minchina daivamu lEdani

Anuradha Sridhar (violin) - first ever time listening to her. Sweet, her repartees have been just great. Even at higher reaches for kAmbhOji her sound production was great - no screeches. Isn't she that active on concert circuit?
Umayalpuram Mali (mridangam) - great metallic sound.

slOkam vignarAja krpA sindhO

sivalOka nAthanaik kandu sEvithiduvOm vArIrE - mAyAmAlavagowlai - Adi - gkb (ns@). grand opening but from anupallavi onwards the lyrics of the song doesn't measure up to the grandeur of the pallavi.
vidjAlathurA - janaranjani - Adi - T (s@vidajAlathurA)
sukhi evvarO - kAnadA - Adi - T (rs@sukhi) mAli's accompaniment on mridangam @ nirandharamu was something else, wow! swaras, she caressed them ever so gently
sAmagAnalOlE - hindOlam - m cApu - GNB (rs@sAmagAna). apparently hindOlam was a rasikar viruppam and tomorrow is GNB's birthday?
koniyAdina nApai - kAmbhOji - Adi - vInai kuppaiyer (rns@ninnu minchina, tani)
mAlOn maruganai (viruththam) followed by
muruganin maru peyar - behAg - k cApu - guru surajAnandA
thEnena inikkum thiruvarutkadalE - shanmugapriyA - Adi - vaLLalAr - http://www.karnatik.com/c1060.shtml
pavamAna in madyamAvathi and a thaniyan? on AndAL (thiruvAdippUrathu jagaththudhiththAL vAzhiyE).

She has the tendency at times to sing sheI, shol etc. Would be great if she rids herself of that and sings them (sel, sol, etc.)

Very nice concert. She presents beautiful music with a beautiful voice, and has a very charming stage presence.

The technical term for this is 'Vaazhi tirunaamam'......ANDAL taniyans would start with 'anna vayal puduvai' or 'cUDik koDutta'.

After a lack-luster concert by Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sudha Ragunathan @ Meccademy ( I expected much better for a Kalanidhi coronation concert) yours faithfully, was tired and ready to go home. Had a cuppa and a snack and I felt that I should listen to GV concert for 30 minutes and then head home (was already worried about haggling with the autowalas).

What a concert it was by GV; At every epoch I wanted to leave, the next piece was so compelling and I stayed for the entire concert; full of verve, ringing voice, sruti -aligned, no gimmicks. Pahi Paravatha Nandhini (Arabhi) and the main was Enduko Nee Manasu (Kalyani); one of the best I have heard. I would say that GV's rendition was even better than Santhanam's version (who used to sing this krithi). I would even rate GV's concert was probably the second best concert I heard at Academy this year. Alas, there were hardly 100 people in the audience. Later I heard GV is in the Ramnad krishnan sishya parampara.

I attended her concert almost by accident --- I was driving past the hall and decided to stop!

Gave myself some discomfort by sitting too close to the speaker. This is hard to judge right: sometimes close-and-clear can be better than further-away-and-unclear.

(Wealthy forumites: Asthika Samajam is badly in need of a new, good, sound system. So many wonderful concerts, and they are unable to even do stereo, although they do the best they can with what they have. Come to think of it, if there are any very wealthy forumites reading this, a purpose-built hall would be nice! The South needs a KGS of its own :) )

The Thiruvanmiyur hall was almost full --- and this was not a free concert.
