Was waiting for some expert to put up a review. Not seeing it, so I am just posting the partial list of songs:-
Prince’s concerts always takes one to blissfulness.

1. Ninnukori – Mohanam
2. Deva Deva – Mayamalavagowla
3. Bantureethi – Hamsanadam
4. ???? St Thyagaraja Krithi – yadhukula Kamboji
5. Hariyum Haranum – Shri MDR – Atana
6. Main Piece – Raga: Kamavardhini
7. ..
8. ..
9. ..
I had to leave after that.

So if anyone has complete list, and review, please drop in.

I think not many of them know about this nice venue, on top of an apartment with Lawn terrace. Nice ambience.
Thanks for the organizer’s for bringing in all top artistes, and being generous to the rasikas :)

It was a most wonderful concert.

8. Jagadhodharana
9. He sang a one line Dikshitar Kriti on request. "Pankaja Mukha Shankara Hitha"
10. English Note -
11. Mangalam

Sri Vidya and Prakash were most gracious hosts. It was nice of Prakash to invite Arasi to honor all the artists on stage.
Just to add - The Thaniavarthanam was brilliant (including Dr Karthick's Konnakol in one round)

My last live concert in India this trip, and what a finale for me!

Nick,
Like you, I've been waiting for long to hear Rama Varma play the vINA (having heard him on You tube). I have listened to him live several times as a vocalist, of course. So, though this happened just a day before I left India, I did not want to miss it.

Cienu,
Yes, gracious hosts Srividya, Prakash and family are and I've missed several concerts at their place in the past years. All the more the reason for going, I thought.

As expected, Rama Varma's playing was sweet, soothing and satisfying. The easy flow of his playing--with no harsh notes at all is what I liked when I heard him on the net. I am glad I made it. His smooth slides were a pleasure to hear. Sowkyam and sweetness were combined in his playing.

Another thing which struck me was how RV did not pause to tune the instrument even once, as if it was a western concert! Then, at the very end (before the english note?) he did, and even that was done gently. All in all, a pleasurable concert...
The percussion support, as he himself raved about, was top notch. The more I hear him, the more pleased I am to listen to Hari Kumar. Karthick is Karthick, and his konnakkOl added even more to his usual expertise. Payyanur overdid himself it seemed. Even a lacking-in-layA person like me was riveted to my seat.

Thanks to le prince and company and thanks to Srividya, Prakash and family for a delectable concert of which I will have fond memories...

Warm thoughts from a warm clime in a below freezing weather here. I was the lucky one who missed the bulk of this year's cold spell though--fortunate me, north american rasikAs ;)

Brrr...the north wind doth blow :(

@nick: Actually PRV mentioned that he prefer giving vocal concert than instrumental, as he is used to it. May be he said that on a lighter note. As a rasika, I did not make out what he was uncomfortable with, as like arasi mentioned, it was a beautiful concert.

@arasi: Oh I did not know popular people like you were there :) .i was a back bencher and bunked the second half L-)

@rajeshnat: yes it is Trichy B Harikumar. This is in Wilson Garden. It is not a completely open terrace. It looked like an apartment, with half portion indoor and has an extended open balcony which has a lawn.

Cameo,
You more or less made a cameo appearance as a backbencher and I was a middle row person who stayed till the end and had a bite to eat too.

Missed seeing Braindrain, Badari, gardabha_gana and others, but ran into someone who said he had seen me in Chennai season and neither of us knew each other. It turns out that he is a member of Rasikas.org after all! (Sundarkrishnan? Bharathkrishnan?) The name eludes the jet-lagged me now. Hope he chimes in.

Rajesh,
A concert you missed :(
It's a house, and the top floor has a big hall and adjacent terrace with a mini lawn and plants. An ideal place for a house concert.
Srividya of such a sweet voice is a disc jokey (on erstwhile Sruthi-World Space and now on RadioWeb Carnatic). R. Mahadevan who was instrumental in running Sruthi and who now heads the Carnatic was also present.

Prakash is a senior student of Bangalore Shankar (who was also very much there).

The whole family is a rasikA family, is my guess. One or two little children (very little, like your princess ) were keeping tAlA so charmingly and were enjoying the music--which was a treat to watch).

Prince Rama Varma is one who could contribute a lot for reviving the glory of Veena.
He has an absolute understanding of the Vadya as well as the playing techniques.
A Vainika Gayaka.
A prince among musicians, a musician among princes!
