Re: Dr. Shertallay Renganatha Sharma @ Ranjani Fine Arts, Ma
It was an amazing concert.
The saveri was probably THE best that I have ever heard.
The songs selected from the word go were excellent. Not a single sagging moment in the entire concert.
There are two things in CM that do not require a mike. One is Nadaswaram and second is Shertallay's voice. Just a booming voice which can fill any hall.
Generally the artist is a contented smiling personality during concerts. But something was disturbing him with the sound. After 45 minutes, he asked the sound to be reduced (through the mridangam vidwan) and everone could feel that the overall quality had improved. His smile came back.
HM Smitha was good. I however felt that for such bhava laden rendering of neraval, etc., for ragas like karaharapriya or saveri by the main artist, the violinist should try to understand the bhava of the sahitya and try to bring it out in her playing as well. In this case it was just good violin accompanyment. I do not want to take away her meritorious performance. It is just a comment such that she can think on these lines, being a young talented artist.
Sri.Shivu (AAK Sharma) was excellent both in following and the high spirited thani. Could not hear much of khanjira.
Very good audience and organisers. Thank you, RFA team for giving a top class concert. Started on time, as usual. The veshti, as is the norm at RFA was spread on the stage - a 10 cubits could have covered the full stage (Uduththu kaLaintha Peethaha aadai?!).

I am great admirer of Sri.Ranganatha Sharma's music and I enjoyed listening to his three hour concert with an able support. I have a question regarding one of the songs he sang. The song is in raga Suruti and I could not listen to the song lyrics clearly. It started with the words like Alavera Pritapa or something like that. Can something give me the lyrics for that song. Thanks.
