Hope many Chennai rasikAs attend the akhaNDam for a few hours in the twelve hours of music.

Each concert would last roughly an hour and a half is my guess. There will be a break for lunch too.

When is V.Sriram's lecture going to be? At nine in the morning before the start of the concerts?

From my experience/post of the other day, I do feel that maybe there is an obvious mistake going on. Something like feeding pro sound levels into a domestic-level device (difference of about 15dB? I forget).

When you are recording at a distance from the stage with a mic, obviously things are tough, but some of your season-2013 results were really good. Even something like a Sony stereo mic plugged in to your laptop mic socket can give amazing results ... or one of the portable recorders that some people use nowadays.

It's music... the sound is all! the third-generation scratchy cassette is a thing of the past an the low-bit-rate MP3 should be. Music is whole point!

Please take as constructive criticism. I have plenty of admiration for you guys too :)

I was able to attend the first two events - Sriram's speech and Vidushi Seetha Rajan's programme. Both were excellent. Her succinct intro to each of the kritis added a lot of value. The accompanists were wonderful too. Got to hear many rare kritis from Smt Seetha's group and enjoyed her quiet way of breaking habituated practices - they started and concluded with Ganesha kritis, with one more during the concert.

Hi Nick,
if you notice, we went back to Dec 2013 way mid way through the akhandam (half way through Cuddalore Janani's concert). There is obviously something wrong with the mixer output that we got in the past two occassiona. In the bothe cases, the situations were not so conducive to play around and try an alternative approach. We had never done a webacast in the past from Vani mahal or Music Academy.

Definitely your criticism is valid and we need this. Please do bear with us as you may have realized we novices trying to operate long distance with a single resource who is an instrumentation engineer but having deal with everything including logistics, food, bandwidth, finances and not to forget the audio too :-) We will get there soon. Thanks for supporting us and the patience showered :-)
