I found it rather patronizing.
It seemed to entirely miss the points that different people take different things from this wonderfully multi-faceted music, and are free to discuss it any way they see fit.
I go to concerts to be uplifted and refreshed. I find it hard to understand what I call the 'train spotters' who seem to loose interest after identifying and noting the ragas in their books. But hey! They can identify ragas, which, mostly I cannot, so (as long as they don't sit and chat having made their notes) who am I to criticise?
Surely one can criticise the critics if it is felt that they are wrong, misinformed, arrogant, or whatever --- but who can tell a person why they should go to a concert?

Criticizing the critique of a critic--unless the review is viscious or gushy or uninformed--is of no consequence. On the one one hand, we have a handful of good critics and along with them many others who do it as if reporting an event and nothing else (some publications send them out for filling spaces in columns and to come across as a newspaper or magazine which caters to all tastes)...

As for cyber critics, what is the difference? They can follow a code of professionalism too. On the web, it is those who are interested and are somewhat proficient as rasikAs who venture into reviewing concerts. It brings those who are interested in the reviews closer to the musical scene. It starts off questions and discussions about rAgA, tALA, composers and so on. A concert list is educational and sparks our interest...

I cannot speak for all,In general I do report the concert review for three reasons.
1. One is very self-centered interest where in by pointing the songlist and rAgas , I readily make mistakes much easier in my lifetime , so that my bar in CM raises. I lost so much of CM thinking in the past where I believed only few are good.
2. Another is simply to share to all who have minimum or no chance to hear Carnatic music , even though they crave to hear.
3. Promote the artist in whatever way I can , as I generally feel overall CM supply is more , but the demand from rasikas is slowly dwindling atleast in proportion to supply.
Certainly from the day when I took a notebook and pen and wrote down more during concerts, I am liking CM more . On few days as Nick mentioned , I have been a train spotter, that is true but what can I do . Even when I am inside the train my head breaks to know what is the station that just passed , where the train didnot stop.

One key difference between the cyber and non-cyber critic is that the former can conceal their identity under a pseudonym lot more easily. And this can provide them the license to write what they like, without requiring them to take on responsibility for what they say.
To me this is what has made the cyber critic a dangerous beast. Bad-mouthing artistes can be done so easily - this can potentially even destroy an artiste's career.

SVV the famous writer both in English and Tamil has written sarcastically an episode about music critics.
when Kalki wrote about the concert of Sattur AGS Subbudo shot back 'his concert is ok;but why he his pronouncing irangay... like 'irrrangay... is ambal sitting on a tree?'
about the critics: they are like the English fans in a foot ball match or even like indian cricket fans. there is hegemony of this sort in addition to that of the performing vidwans.
i also find in the forum a few senior members not finding it to their stature to participate in a discussion where the new members are busy posting their view points.
i feel these can not be avoided. because of elapse of time natural levels of hierarchy get formed.
but unlike a magazine review the forum is like the 'hyde park' where everybody can express what he thinks. this gives an excellent room for each critic nowithstanding his opinion to enhance his mind by coming to know various view points and things which he is not aware off.
this way despite anonimity the forum is definitely a boon to learning rasikas.
