The concert, though not intellectually stimulating, was a decent one. The sisters kept it very simple. The renditions of the songs were very good. The shanmukhapriya raga alapana by Smt. an AlApanai in mArgahindOLam? thats nice to know.
where was the neraval in 'EkAmrEsa nAyakIm'?
Wrt the chArukEsi kriti, i remember the sisters announcing it is a composition of nIlA rAmamurthi at yet another occasion they sang it. there was however a debate on the issue. I dont remember if it reached a verdict.

Re: Ayiram Ayiram - cArukEsi.
This song is composed by Shri. K.N.Dandayudapani Pillai and popularised by Smt.M.L.Vasanthakumari. Bombay Jayashree had sung this song in her album " Brindavan" The audio link isLakshman wrote:Ayiram Ayiram. rAgA: cArukEsi. Adi tALA.

Though the song is credited to K.N.Dandayudapani Pillai by many, it is not in the book of his compositions. I would say that the composer is not known.

Lakshman,
See how even five years after a concert, you are sought out, to help us find the composer of a song

Lakshman sir,
Sattur Sisters had replied to my blog post and said it is composed by Smt Neela Ramamurthi. Regarding the source of this information, they mentioned it as one Mrs.Prabavathi, a direct disciple of MLV.

Wow I did not know that , This song is very special I have personally handed over a chit to Smt MLV in MFAC to sing this number. What a number that just oozes with so much feel that too with Smt MLV singing it.ram wrote:Lakshman sir,

Thanks Ram for finding the answer to the composer question. The song is not in Nila Ramamurti's book Stuti Manimalai but I understand she had published two other books which unfortunately, I do not have.

I confirm that the song Ayiram Ayiram is by Nila Ramamurti. I saw it in one of her books available at the Music Academy, Chennai.
