She sang with a strong voice, keeping the focus on the kritis and the vaggeyakaras. Kamalakiran played flawlessly, with clarity and precision on every note as always, and the percussionists maintained tight control over the rhythm. Everyone displayed good rapport on stage and even though Kiranavali kept her personality subdued throughout the concert, she was communicative, connecting not only with her team but also the audience.

Ranganayaki,
Thanks for writing about Kiranavali's concert. I remember her singing a very good bhairavi as main in a concert years ago.
Another 'torch bearer', Kamalakiran, a sweet sounding talent accompanied her. Are the percussionists the same?
We from Raskias.org were glad to meet Kiranavali at her brother's houselast December where the whole family made us feel happy with their hospitality. Kiranavali's daughter was a delight to watch at Uday's demo, sitting with his daughter while both of them kept tAlA earnestly!
Well, Cleveland festival is just around the corner, and there are spring signs everywhere, along with music!

Arasi, you are always so clear, but this time I don't follow your question. The vocalist, violinist and percussionists are mentioned at the top of the posting, before the song list.arasi wrote: I remember her singing a very good bhairavi as main in a concert years ago.

Also, do you mean that in the concert you attended of hers years ago, Kamalakiran was the violinist accompanying her? I'm a little confused.
PS: The Tiruppugazh title has been edited for a typo.

Ranganayaki,
Thanks for the compliment.
The vintage car with a lot of mileage is showing signs of wear, perhaps
Let me try again:
The Bhairavi I heard was years before Kamalakiran started playing the violin on stage, during the season in the BVB mini hall.
I wondered if the accompanists too were young musicians (the torch bearers of North America).
Thanks for the compliment.

Arasi,
Yes, this aging car (requiring a perspective shift to be called vintage) certainly does show signs of wear
, doesn't it? I get you now
!
All the percussionists are from our growing pool of local talent, and Vinay Mallikarjuna sings and plays percussion. As a student of the University of Maryland, he is a little older than Kamalakiran who is a junior (11th grade) in high school. This past year, Kamalakiran received exposure here as a percussionist too, most often playing the Kanjira for other young musicians. Vijay Ganesh is slightly older, but vastly more experienced as a Mridangist. He works in Virginia and teaches the mridangam.
I found this link with a photograph of Vijay Ganesh and a small write up about him. (The page speaks of other artists too, it is probably in the context of some concert). His own website offers further details of his training and achievements.
