Sweet, soft on the ears music sans gimmicks, all in all for about 140 mins. Does G Bharathi accompany/play solo? She would rank amongst the top crop undoubtedly. Percussion support through out was very good and sensitive. It was really "san"geetham. Tani was simply grand. eppO varuvArO & notes were audience requests.
* MC vocally sang those.
Today Kunnakkudi Balamuralikrishna is scheduled to perform there.

Rajesh,
She was in pAvADai dAvaNi when I once heard her in the US (came with her father). After many years, I heard her play at Bharath Kalachar, accompanying Jayalakshmi Santhanam once (two or three years ago). Where you at that particular concert? I forget.

Bharathi is also an accomplished dancer. A few years ago in Cleveland, MC gave a lecture concert on some padams/javalis that he had learned directly from Jayammal (T Viswa/Balasaraswati's mother) and Bharathi danced to them! I had the pleasure of attending this concert with VKV.
Here is a picture from MC's 1976 tour of US/Canada. Look at a young Harishankar in this picture.

Rajesh,
I'm surprised your keen eyes couldn't recognize him! Look at his posture...Of course, the thermos (there are two more on the edge of the grand stage) indicates the time it was taken. No water bottles either on stage

I was kind of thinking about GD , but i was not sure . I have heard GD only from 2000+ onwards , his frame is now more thinner with glasses- that is the photo I had more in my mind. In the above photo his frame shows him more with mrudangam muscle.
