Thanks Mudhra!

I didn't have the chance to listen to Shashank for a few years. Hearing him play with BMK at Cleveland whetted my appetite for his music, and I wanted to hear him again and I thoroughly enjoyed his concert at Mudhra today! His Sriranjani, SankarAbhraNam and the kApi RTP (rAgamAlika-hamsAnandi, rEvathi, bowLi, ??, kalyANa vasantham, behAg) were all so satisfying. dES (dAsara pada?) and another rAgamAlika favorite of many (thIrAda viLAiyATTup piLLai by Bharathi) concluded the concert. He is an outstanding instrumentalist.

Jyotsna plays better and better, and in her case, her playing in many a fusion concert does not take away her CM playing skills at all! Loved listening to her.

A pity, I didn't recognize the mrudangam player. He was very good. Tiruppunithura Radhakrishnan, a favorite of mine, excelled himself. The thani was a treat.

A few shots of the audience made me think that the hall was nearly full. Was any forumite there? If so, please chime in. It was a lovely concert :)

Arasi, according to The Hindu ad the mridangist was Sai Giridhar.

I'm fairly sure I saw him recently, playing for KP Nandini. Very nice, musical style, PSP school, melodic left hand.

Might have attended this concert, I do enjoy Shashank's playing, and know Jyotsna from London, but I had to be somewhere else.

Thanks, Nick. No wonder I couldn't recognize him--even the name is new to me.

Arasi madam, I attended this concert. It was excellent- with four ragams- Chandrajothi, elaborate Sreeranjini, which is not very common, very elaborate Sankarabharnam and RTP in Kapi. In fact, as his usual, he asked for our choice of ragam for RTP- He gave options like Kalyanavsantham, Poorvikalyani etc, and I shouted for Kapi and he obliged. Thanks to his magnanimity. What a vidwat, control of music and laya, He demonstrated the prayogams of flat swaras and gamakas in Kapi. The pallavi also he played in two taalams- khanda chapu and then in Adi.

In Mudhra, you will have a very good audience tunrout for all the concerts. Minimum 80% full for all concerts. And mike system, ambience, canteen all are good.

It is great gesture that paalam is bringing this concert to our home- throught the globe- even after the concert.
